What is a Virtual Server?
A Virtual Server offers all the advantages of having your own WebServer
without the expense of a high speed, dedicated Internet connection, associated
hardware, and maintanence. WebSpace on our dedicated servers with 24-hour
FTP-Access is provided to transfer your files and programs to your Virtual
Server.

ROCK Capital Interactive does not offer dial-up Internet Access. Our WebServers are dedicated to the storage and execution of WWW based programs only. Hosting on ROCKCI DIY Virtual servers offers the following advantages:

¨ With Connectivity via a Tier 1 provider with multiple DS3 connections, information served from our network will reach Internet users (your intended audience) faster and more reliably.

ROCKCI DIY Virtual servers fully support the programming Webmaster. FTP, and Telnet Shell access allow you to set file permissions (chmod) and much more. PERL 5, and PERL 4 and many associated PERL modules are installed and available for customer use. These features are included in our service saving you the space.

Yes. You are free to create subdirectories under your domain and resell space to your customers if you will act as their webmaster.

Yes. We currently offer ONE FREE MONTH's hosting for each new ROCKCI DIY account established as a result of your referral. This means if you setup an account for your customer or simply refer a friend, you earn ONE FREE MONTH's hosting for your ROCKCI DIY Virtual Domain. If you set up more than (3) ROCKCI DIY Virtual Domain's we can offer even better incentives ( email Resell@rockci.com for further details).
Does ROCKCI handle domain registration?
Yes we register for you as part of setup. Be sure to check if the domain

Internic will invoice you $70 which includes the first 2 years (@$35 per year). They will send an invoice directly to you.

Can I move my existing domain to ROCKCI?
Yes. Please be sure to check the "I wish to move a domain to ROCKCI"
box on our sign
up form . We will prepare an Internic modify form and mail it to the
current administrative contact. It is the Administrative contact's responsibility
to submit the form to hostmaster@internic.net . You should keep the service
at the present site while waiting for Internic to complete the modify.
We will provide you with a temporary IP address so you can mirror the site
on our server. All email and web pages will still be accessed from the
current site. After Internic emails a completion notice to the administrative
contact, there is a 72 hour propagation period where visitors could go
to either site. At the end of the 72 hours you should contact your old
hosting provider to have them delete your files from their server and update
their DNS record. If you use this same provider for your Internet access
you will not be able to access your domain site at ROCKCI until they update
their DNS.

After Internic emails a completion notice, there is a 72 hour propagation period. Depending on the ISP you use to access your domain, this time may be less.
How will I transfer files to my Virtual Server?
You can transfer files to your Virtual Server via FTP (File Transfer
Protocol). FTP software is available from our HELP
page. Some access providers such as AOL, Prodigy, and Compuserve have FTP
software built in to their interfaces.

Yes. You can upgrade at any time to a better ROCKCI DIY plan at no charge.
Can ROCKCI host non-US domain name extensions?
Yes. We are proud to host customers from around the world. Please read
our Instructions for hosting a non-US domain on
ROCKCI DIY.
Are the any Hit charges or Traffic limits?
No. There are no set limits for traffic or hits.

Unlimited email aliasing allows you to receive email addressed to AnyAndAllNames@yourdomain. This means any name you want typed before @yourdomain can be used. Typically the webmaster gets all non-specifically addressed email to the domain.
AnyAndAllNames@yourdomain forwards to YourEmail@YourAccessProvider.com
Specific names@yourdomain can be forwarded in addtion to the above.
Tom@yourdomain forwards to Tom@TomsAccessProvider.com
Bob@yourdomain forwards to Bob@BobsAccessProvider.com
etc.
There is no set limit on the amount of specific names you can forward. However, if you require a huge number of these, we will charge a reasonable one time setup. You can change the forwarding address at any time should you change access providers.
